TCDSU Attempted to Suppress the Halls Scandal, Documents Show

Documents from last year obtained by Irish Student Left Online show that Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) President Eoin Hand, alongside the Education Officer Megan O’Connor and the Communications Officer Philly Holmes attempted to suppress an agenda item brought to 4th Council which was due to take place the 9th of February 2021.

TCDSU Spent Over 122,000 € on Class Rep Training from 2015-2019

Figures obtained by Irish Student Left Online reveal that Trinity College Dublin’s Student Union (TCDSU) has spent 122,055 € on their annual “Class Rep Training” from 2015 until 2019, when due to Covid-19 the event was moved online and incurred little to no costs.

Trinity Knew For Months, But Did not Consult Sports Clubs for Interim Exhibiton

According to documents from College Board’s meeting on the 19th of May 2021, two possible locations to temporarily house the Book of Kells interim exhibition were approved Library Square and New Square.

However, between June and August of 2021, the Bursar, Chief Operating Officer of the Corporate Service Division and Estates & Facilities of Trinity College Dublin engaged with Dublin City Council (DCC), who allegedly deemed these two locations unsuitable, and proposed the location of College Park instead. To date, no paperwork or correspondence surrounding this decision has been made available for scrutiny.
